Medugorje and Mostar
Medugorje is a town of the Western Herzegovina and it is close to the border of Croatia. Medugorje today is a beautiful little city. The name Medugorje means "area between 2 mountains". This popular site of religious pilgrimage due to reports of apparitions of the Virgin Mary. In this town the locals are calling her Our Lady Of Medugorje. Medugorje has become the one of the largest Catholic pilgrimage sites in the world and encouragement for faith and spiritual life. Medugorje Apparitions started in 1981. when the six young people saw a young woman with a child in her arms, who was calling them, but they were afraid. Very next day fuor people saw Blessed Virgin Mary. They prayed and spoke with her. The visionaries describe Virgin Mary as stunning beyond words; radiant with holiness. Her conversations with the kids have taken the form of motherly sensitivity and love, and she's taken the role of both mum and catechist in advising and directing their lives. She greets them with, "fated be Jesus, my dear children." Attracted by Blessed Virgin Mary’s apparitions and messages, people from all over the world started to gather and pray. Until today, the Queen of Peace has left thousands of messages. Initially, the messages were almost everyday. Many people experienced God's grace and presence in their hearts on this place and often receive motivation to lead a better, more valuable life. Mostar is a fifth-largest city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and one of the most important cities in this country. It is famous after his beautiful Old Bridge over Neretva River. City that is situated on this river was named after the bridge keepers who in the medieval times guarded the bridge. The Old Bridge, built in the 16th century, is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Bosnia and it is one of the most important culture and heritage pieces of Islamic architecture on Balcan area.
